Biruta has been dealing with substantive tax issues for more than 25 years. Before attending law school, she was an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service's Office of International Operations. After law school, she continued working on international tax issues at the IRS Office of Chief Counsel and then became a clerk for the Chief Judge of the U.S. Tax Court. At the firm since 1985, she works on most aspects of insurance company taxation, including financial products, insurance products, and international tax issues. She participates in planning, audit and controversy work and in litigation. Biruta is a 1981 graduate of The George Washington University Law School.
